Be sure your dog is wearing a well-fitted collar with current ID tag.
Bring information about your pet with you "just in case." Include a photo, breed, age, sex, description, etc.
Like humans, dogs often suffer minor stomach discomforts due to motion sickness, especially on winding roads through the mountains. Withhold or limit food and water intake prior to traveling.
Bring your crate and practice crating before leaving home. Folding crates are most convenient. Even if your dog behaves beautifully at home, he or she may become very anxious in a new place and cause damage.
If planning to hike, don't forget a bottle of water for your pet.
Bring ziploc baggies for cleaning up feces, and moist wipes or towelettes for wiping muddy paws. |
